When it comes to contamination control, every fibre counts. DuPont™ cleanroom garments are engineered with science, safety, and precision in mind — but what really goes into a suit?
DuPont™ Tyvek® and Tychem® fabrics utilise continuous-filament polyethylene layers for low particulate shedding and high barrier performance against liquids and fine particulates. Tychem® fabrics are rigorously permeation-tested to resist a wide range of chemicals—including solvents, biological agents, even chemical warfare simulants—using standards like EN 14325 and ASTM F739, with some Tychem® variants offering up to EN Type 6 protection.
Suits like Tyvek® 800 J use stitched and over-taped seams, combining mechanical strength with barrier integrity—and preventing fibres from becoming shedding points. These seams are crucial for Type 3–6 chemical/liquid resistance. There are many features to the shape and style of the garment that enhance it’s safety to the wearer: elasticated wrists, ankles, waist, face/seal zones, plus thumb loops and glued-in waist elastication ensure a tailored fit. Zippers come with adhesive flaps and chin guards, aiding in mask integration and reducing ingress points.
Tyvek® 800 and Tychem® (C, F, etc.) suits feature antistatic treatments on the inside, complying with EN 1149‑5 to dissipate charges—essential in sensitive environments, though humidity >25% is needed for full effectiveness.
Tychem® balances chemical protection, durability, and flexibility—avoiding rigid PE layers prone to cracking. Tyvek® remains lightweight and abrasion-resistant, yet offers solid barrier performance. DuPont™ can be offered individually packed with sealing flaps and labelled for traceability and sterile handling. DuPont™ suits are available in both sterile and non-sterile formats to suit controlled environments from Grade A/B cleanrooms to support areas.
Whether you’re working in pharma, biotech, or microelectronics, every detail—fabric, seams, closures, antistatic finish—adds up to a suit that’s not only a physical barrier, but a guarantee of wearer safety and cleanroom integrity.
